Our boldest project to date is an Anaerobic Digester. Using organic waste it produces bio gas for cooking or lighting.
The waste product 'slurry' is a brilliant fertilser and can even be dried and sold. My aim is to build more all over Uganda.
Digesters can come in all sizes to suit a family of 4 or a school.
The digester has been working everyday since March 2012. They have had gas everyday. It was difficult at first with the borehole drying up but they managed it well. It is a large digester incorporating toilet waste and waste from animals. The digester has the capacity to produce enough gas do all their cooking, but they need more cows. At present they have 2 cows but we need 4 and are working towards this goal.
